Abstrakt
The ecologic and carbon neutral society is one of the main challenges of today’s human being. An emphasis on reducing the carbon footprint and the effort to switch to ecological energy sources resonates at the different levels of the society. The solution to reduce greenhouse gases in different human activities, including the heavy transport is offered by hydrogen technologies, which have advanced considerably in recent years. However, the development of hydrogen technologies, wider use of hydrogen fuel cell systems require new materials that can store large amounts of hydrogen a relatively low pressures with small volume, low weight, and fast kinetics for recharging.
In the lecture different possibilities of hydrogen storage will be discussed, but main focus will be taken on the adsorption techniques, which are among the most promising and safe ways for hydrogen storage and transportation. These techniques allow a significant increase in the hydrogen density up to values characteristic of liquids. In the lecture I will focus on adsorption systems for hydrogen storage, based on nanoporous materials. Both cryogenic and non-cryogenic storage conditions will be discussed. Moreover, I will present also the effect of nanoconfinement of metal hydrides and complex hydrides, as hydrogen sources, in nanoporous materials.
