Abstract
Propane is nowadays widely used refrigerant in light commercial applications due to high efficiency and low GWP. With modification of standard IEC 60335-2-89 in 2019it is supposed that propane will be used also for larger plug-in systems with charge allowed up to 500g.Due to lower specific cooling capacity comparing to R404A, the displacement of the R290 pump needs to be enlarged about 10% to get the same cooling capacity as R404A reference. This could represent restriction for some applications which demand high mass flow especially for transient operations. This paper shows the performance study of application the other hydrocarbon refrigerant Propylene which can solve insufficient capacity of Propane in larger commercial applications.
